It’s been a busy summer, which explains why I’ve been a bit quieter than usual. After more than four years in London, we’ve taken a major step: we bought our own home. I think it clearly shows our intention to settle here for good. Call it destiny, serendipity, or whatever you like, but we’ve found our permanent place right next to the tiny apartment where we spent our first months in the city, trapped in a matchbox because of the Pandemic.
Now, we’re saying goodbye to the flat where we started to feel at home. We’re saying goodbye to Islington and Caledonian Road. I can’t deny there’s a bittersweet whirlwind of emotion in my heart about leaving. The Cally Bridge not only supports the overground trains, it has also witnessed my growth as a professional in London. The job hunts, the auditions, the rejections, the rehearsals, the admin work, and facilitation gigs… a few Halloweens, a few Christmases, and a few summers. It took time, but I eventually found happiness there. Still, we decided we’d be even happier without paying rent.
So, here we are, back in Camden, in what will be our home for the foreseeable future. Of course, we don’t know what the future holds, but now we have an anchor—our own home.
